“I consider myself pretty lucky…..I’ve been able to visit some really great locations, sometimes by design, and sometimes by random chance. Occasionally, I also get to experience some fantatstic lighting and weather conditions when I’m there! Things a lot of people never get the opportunity to witness.

Through my images, I hope to give people just a little glimpse into how I see my country, and hopefully they’ll understand why I’m so taken by our landscape ”

Background

Pete started his photography journey as a young boy, when his father taught him how to use a Pentax K1000 film camera. He developed a broad interest in art at high school, where he focused on drawing and painting. In 2006, he rediscovered photography while travelling throughout Scotland as an Engineer. He enjoys being off the beaten track, and exploring the highlands and islands of the West coast of Scotland.

Pete has a tendency towards the panoramic format, and wide vistas, though he’s doing his best to look at the smaller view as well!

Tranquillity

This image is pretty special to me, not only because it took a few attempts to get the right conditions, but also because my Dad came along on this shoot. It had been a few years since we’d been out together and it was great to share some time doing something we both enjoy. It was quite blustery, so quite a challenging shoot. I blended two exposures here; a long exposure for the water and the sky and a short exposure to freeze the motion of tree.
