Serendipity

Achmelvich, Assynt

This is another image that has a very personal connection for me. My immediate family and I had taken a trip up to Lochinver for my mum’s birthday, and I was keen to take them to one of the fabulous West coast beaches that I’d visited previously on my travels. We lucked out with the weather, and had balmy temperatures so took a short walk to this small beach. When we rounded the corner to see golden sand with turquoise water, I couldn’t resist taking a few shots.

Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time just works! This is a fairly simple two shot panorama, that I took handheld. I think the single croft tucked away on the hillside just alludes to it being Scotland, with the brilliant colour of the sea, the deserted golden beach with the rolling foreground hill and beautiful cloud really coming together in this image.
